I don't suppose there is a way to have a dummy terminator plug to fool the computer in thinking that it is connected to a display?

I think you'll need some sort of display connected to the Mini in order to use it. If it's the same as the 2009/2010 models, they made it so that it wouldn't work properly without a monitor.
