That is true I'm sure. As I said, you could install a regular version of OSX 
and just zap the server software but it's a heavy price to pay. The price of 
the server-based machine is almost twice the price of the regular Mac Mini. 
Well, in Pounds, the regular Mini is £529.00 and the server is £849.00. A lot 
more money for a second hard drive. :)

from doing what was discussed earlier.
 Namely, putting a mini in a travel bag and using it on the road.
 If you want to do that, Apple dictates, buy a laptop.
  However, most hotels these days have  flat screen TVs most of which have a 
handy dandy HDMI input which would work nicely as a monitor.

You could be correct there. But then again that machine isn't designed with 
portability in mind. Hence no batteries.
