• Yet another bit of controlling from Apple. The reason used to be that the server software was subsidised when SL and Leopard Server were sold in this way. But Apple only sells that hardware with the server OS installed. That is true I'm sure. As I said, you could install a regular version of OSX and just zap the server software but it's a heavy price to pay. The price of the server-based machine is almost twice the price of the regular Mac Mini. Well, in Pounds, the regular Mini is £529.00 and the server is £849.00. A lot more money for a second hard drive. :) • BTW, I am sure Apple requires a Mini to have a monitor to prevent someone from doing what was discussed earlier. Namely, putting a mini in a travel bag and using it on the road. If you want to do that, Apple dictates, buy a laptop. However, most hotels these days have flat screen TVs most of which have a handy dandy HDMI input which would work nicely as a monitor. You could be correct there. But then again that machine isn't designed with portability in mind. Hence no batteries.
