Hi Donal

Int's been a while since I did this, because I must confess I use an Bluetooth
keyboard most of the time instead of the on-screen version. But my iPad is in
a mode where by touching a letter doesn't actually cause it to be activated.
You have to actually lift your finger off the screen a little for that letter
to be typed. But the point is that the sound is different.

Hi Lynne,

Apologies I sent that last mail in a rush as I had to go teach a class; oddly
enough about user-interaction and interface design which is always fun. The
sounds I'm talking about are the VO sounds. When "mute" is on, there are none
and I find I can operate the device faster. I've even done some task analysis
on myself and (though this is only a sample-size of 1) I'm definitely more
efficient.

So let's say I'm in touch-typing mode and I miss the D key but hit the S. When
I slide to the right I hear a click. This same click happens when one moves
from icon to icon on the home screen etc. I *loath* these extra sounds.

Rant over!
