Hi Geoff, I have no idea if this is the problem you are having, but I was having a similar issue with several of my own created ringtones that I would associate with specific contacts. When the individual contact would call, the default ringtone would sound, and it drove me crazy for a while. What I discovered was that I actually had multiple entries listed for the same contact. I suspect this had to do with syncing with iCloud, but when I removed other duplicates and then made sure the proper ringtone was associated with the correct contact, it worked fine. BTW, the same thing was happening with text tones too.
