You could also get a dock with a speaker for your IPod touch which would give 
you good sound at less than what you'd pay for the IPad. I really do use mine 
for a lot of book reading without benefit of headset. The larger screen can be 
problematic for some things, and you can't stick an IPad into your pocket. I 
bought mine when the price dropped after they came out with the IPad 2. I'm not 
at all sure I could justify paying full price for it; I definitely wouldn't 
have a 64gb model with 3g if I'd had to pay full retail. <smile>
