I'm not sure what happens now if you also have a valid iTunes account for another country. In principle, you could have your current iTunes account authorized for purchases that you or someone else made in another country. For example, let's say that you married someone from another country, and you're now sharing applications. If your computer is authorized to use applications from that person's account, you could log out of your iTunes store, and the other person could log into their store on your iTunes account, and make purchases. If you've authorized purchases from someone else's iTunes account, that would count as one of the up to five iTunes computer authorizations you're allowed to hold at any time. In the past, switching user accounts, or even having multiple iTunes accounts was more common. With Apple's increased international presence with the various iOS devices, the current move to iCloud (with a single Apple ID), and increased enforcement of valid international addresses, trying to log into an account in a different country's iTunes store is less common. I do find the way the Apple ID system is implemented to be a pain. They set up IDs for ITunes purchases before they started up these Apple IDs with email addresses. So anyone who used ITunes early on and was also either a subscriber to MobileMe or its predecessor, dot Mac, has two Apple IDs. All my product registrations, except for the very latest iOS device, are recorded under that first iTunes ID. Apple ID in the form of an email address. And in the transition to iCloud, I had to authorize all my iOS devices with my MobileMe email-style user ID and then sign out of my iTunes account under "Store" in the settings menu, and sign in again with my iTunes Apple ID so that I can continue to make purchases on my devices.
