Won't it be a spectacular day when the good folks at Apple decide to
proactively document these sorts of changes? Remember the move from SL to Lion
where they disabled the simple method of moving to top and bottom of message
list and disabled the ability to simply use tab to move between the mailbox
list, message list and preview pane?

Anyway, here are the two methods I've found to navigate Mail.app in Mountain
Lion. Hope somebody finds something a bit simpler for those of us who use
preview pane.
1. If the preview pane is active, use VO+J to hop back and forth between the
message list and the preview pane, and use tab and shift+tab pressed four times
to move back and forth between the message list and mailbox list in classic
view. In "Lion" view, you'll need to press tab or shift+tab 5 times.
2. If the preview pane is hidden, VO+J will hop between the mailbox list and
the message list. You can press return and Command+W to open and close the
highlighted message. I think this behavior is unchanged from Lion.

Bryan
