Sorry for the delayed response. Ok, are you hearing anything specifically when you try the pinch out gesture?I just tried this again in both Mail and Safari on my iPhone5, with no problems.Take care. This is one set of jesters i cannot master due to wrist problems and I really wishapple would have come up with a better way to do this all from the editrotor. using swipe down jesters. I've suggested this to them but so far nogo. Be blessed. On Nov 9, 2012, at 9:00 AM, Christopher Gilland <[email protected]>wrote:Collin,That is exactly what I was doing, but the pinching gesture isn't working.Chris. If you put them at the beginning of the word you wish to select and keeping them on the screen just open them or to deselect put them on screen opened and pinch together! Does this help! Of course if you got it set to line then you will of course select each line! *smile* Colin On 9 Nov 2012, at 15:53, "Christopher-Mark Gilland" <[email protected]> wrote:Actually, I don't completely understand. Then, separate2 fingers from the centre of the screen, and each time you separate them, you will select a block. If your rotor was on words, you will select word by word each time you separate your fingers, if it is on lines, you will then go line by line. I hope I am being clear and that this information helps you. Take care! So, as you probably can guess, I amquite an I O S Guru. Having said that though, this is one thing, that to this very day still puzzles me. I know that in a text field, I can turn my rotor to "Edit", and then one finger flick down to select all, double tap, then one finger flick down to copy, or cut, and double tap. Then go to another text box, make sure I'm on "Edit", then one finger flick to paste, and double tap. But here's where the, yeah, but... comes in. Let's say that I'm in the Mail app, and I've justopened up an e-mail, oh, what the heck, we'll just say from my friend. He's giving me his flight itinerary number, what concorse he'll be in, etc. I need to e-mailthe information to my mother who's going to be picking him up. Again, this is just a ficticious example, but it does stand my point in perfect context. Yeah, I could forward my mother the entire e-mail, but why? When I open the e-mail, obviously the content of the e-mail isn't in a text field. So, how could I select a block of text from that message, then copy it? Here's another example. Say I'm on Safari, and I see a web site that has some good information about a particular topic. How would I then select just that one paragraphthen somehow copy it, so I could then paste it into a text, or e-mail,etc? OK, I'll give you that in Mail, I guess one sollution would be to go like I was going to reply/forward the message, then I would have a full on text field, then could select all, copy the whole e-mail,compose a new message, address it, then put my subject, then paste the body, then delete the aronious unneeded stuff accordingly, but, man ohman! that's a lotta work just to copy one little part of the mail! With Safari, I'm even more! clueless how I'd do that seeing there's no way what so ever that I know of to force the html content into a text element area. I know there has to be a way to do this! Surely Appledidn't forget a feature as necessary as this! LOL! Thank you kindly, Christopher-Mark Gilland.
