Yeah? I already attempted that method as well, and it didn't seem to work.
Sorry if I'm getting frustrating to you all. Maybe I should just drop the
subject. I don't wanna give up on it, but I honest to god don't know
anything left to try.
Thank you kindly,
Christopher-Mark Gilland.

You can't use a finger on each hand and move your hands apart?

It does not work for me rather. it acts like I"m turning the rotor. This

wish apple would have come up with a better way to do this all from the
edit rotor. using swipe down jesters. I've suggested this to them but so
far no go.
Be blessed.

Hi Chris!
OK you know when you pinch your thumb and finger together!
If you put them at the beginning of the word you wish to select and
keeping them on the screen just open them or to deselect put them on
screen opened and pinch together!
Does this help!
Of course if you got it set to line then you will of course select each
line! *smile*

Hello:
To select text in other places rather than an edit field, you just
need to set your rotor on the mode you will select; let's say, words,
sentences, lines, etc.
When you have it, just pace your cursor, with your finger flick down
or up at the start of the block of text you want to select. Then,
separate 2 fingers from the centre of the screen, and each time you
separate them, you will select a block. If your rotor was on words,
you will select word by word each time you separate your fingers, if
it is on lines, you will then go line by line.
I hope I am being clear and that this information helps you.
Take care!

OK, I have an iPhone 4S, an iPad 1st Generation, an iPad 3rd
Generation, and an iPad Mini. So, as you probably can guess, I am
quite an I O S Guru. Having said that though, this is one thing,
that to this very day still puzzles me. I know that in a text
field, I can turn my rotor to "Edit", and then one finger flick down
to select all, double tap, then one finger flick down to copy, or
cut, and double tap. Then go to another text box, make sure I'm on
"Edit", then one finger flick to paste, and double tap. But here's
where the, yeah, but... comes in. Let's say that I'm in the Mail
app, and I've just opened up an e-mail, oh, what the heck, we'll
just say from my friend. He's giving me his flight
itinerary number, what concorse he'll be in, etc. I need to e-mail
the information to my mother who's going to be picking him up.
Again, this is just a ficticious example, but it does stand my point
in perfect context. Yeah, I could forward my mother the entire
e-mail, but why? When I open the e-mail, obviously the content of
the e-mail isn't in a text field. So, how could I select a block of
text from that message, then copy it? Here's another example. Say
I'm on Safari, and I see a web site that has some good information
about a particular topic. How would I then select just that one
paragraph then somehow copy it, so I could then paste it into a
text, or e-mail, etc?
OK, I'll give you that in Mail, I guess one sollution would be to go
like I was going to reply/forward the message, then I would have a
full on text field, then could select all, copy the whole e-mail,
compose a new message, address it, then put my subject, then paste
the body, then delete the aronious unneeded stuff accordingly, but,
man oh man! that's a lotta work just to copy one little part of the
mail! With Safari, I'm even more! clueless how I'd do that seeing
there's no way what so ever that I know of to force the html content
into a text element area. I know there has to be a way to do this!
Surely Apple didn't forget a feature as necessary as this! LOL!
Thank you kindly,
Christopher-Mark Gilland.
