Ah, I neglected to say that you pinch sideways. So you will do the pinch gestures horizontally. I bet that will get you where you need to be. Take care. -Rodney On 11/9/12, Christopher-Mark Gilland <[email protected]> wrote:No, it says absolutely nothing, and nothing at all happens when I try.Could it be I'm moving both my finters when I spread them? Should I maybe try leaving my thumb where it is, but then only move my index up to select, leaving my tymb alone where it is? the best way I can explain this is my index moves toward the top of the screen whilst my thumb is at the same time spreading, by moving more toward the home key. I wonder if that's my whole issue rightthere. Thank you kindly, Christopher-Mark Gilland. Ok, are you hearing anything specifically when you try the pinch out gesture? I just tried this again in both Mail and Safari on my iPhone5, with no problems. Take care. If you put them at the beginning of the word you wish to select and keeping them on the screen just open them or to deselect put them on screen opened and pinch together! Then, separate 2 fingers from the centre of the screen, and each time you separate them, you will select a block. If your rotor was on words, you willselect word by word each time you separate your fingers, if it is onlines, you will then go line by line. I hope I am being clear and that this information helps you. Take care! So, as you probably can guess, I am quite an I O S Guru. Having said that though, this is one thing, that to this very day still puzzles me. I know that in a text field, I can turn my rotor to "Edit", and then one finger flick down to select all, double tap, then one finger flick down to copy, or cut, and doubletap. Then go to another text box, make sure I'm on "Edit", then one finger flick to paste, and double tap. But here's where the, yeah,but... comes in. Let's say that I'm in the Mail app, and I've just opened up an e-mail, oh, what the heck, we'll just say from my friend. He's giving me his flightitinerary number, what concorse he'll be in, etc. I need to e-mailthe information to my mother who's going to be picking him up. Again, this is just a ficticious example, but it does stand my point inperfect context. Yeah, I could forward my mother the entire e-mail, but why? When I open the e-mail, obviously the content of the e-mail isn't in a text field. So, how could I select a block of text fromthat message, then copy it? Here's another example. Say I'm onSafari, and I see a web site that has some good information about aparticular topic. How would I then select just that one paragraph then somehow copy it, so I could then paste it into a text, or e-mail, etc?OK, I'll give you that in Mail, I guess one sollution would be to golike I was going to reply/forward the message, then I would have a full on text field, then could select all, copy the whole e-mail, compose a new message, address it, then put my subject, then paste thebody, then delete the aronious unneeded stuff accordingly, but, manoh man! that's a lotta work just to copy one little part of the mail! With Safari, I'm even more! clueless how I'd do that seeing there'sno way what so ever that I know of to force the html content into a text element area. I know there has to be a way to do this! Surely Apple didn't forget a feature as necessary as this! LOL! Thank you kindly, Christopher-Mark Gilland.
