This is getting off topic, but I'll give you a hint on how I do this, then,
past that point, you can write me off list if you have any further
questions.
I'll even be willing to make an audio tutorial if you'd like me to.
Basically, you need to apply through Time Warner, for their online "My
Services" option. It's totaly free to sign up for, don't worry. You might
have to get a little help getting through the initial sign up process, as
the web site is quite graphical in nature, and is at best, quite difficult
to navigate. The nice thing is however, once you're signed up, there's a
whole different web site we'll use for managing the DVR, which is so
stupidly ridiculously easy to navigate, that literally the most basic level
web browsing type individual could get through this with absolutely no issue
at all.
Beware that when you sign up, you're gonna need a copy of your bill, as
there will be a 4 digit pin... hint... this isn't the last 4 digits of the
primary account holder's SSN. This is a totally different number which is
printed on your bill.
You also will see your account number. Here is my account number with a few
characters randomly changed in order to protect my security. Generally
though, the number will look something like:
579806342.
Again, that is *NOT* obviously my account number, so no mods kill me, ok?
I'm not that stupid. I purposefully have changed around a few digits, and
I'm not even gonna say which ones I changed, let alone what they should a
been. Anyway, you'll need that number, as well as the 4 digit pin. Once
you are signed up, then you need to visit
http://mdvr.timewarnercable.com
Then, simply log/sign in.
From here, it's as symple as browsing, or searching for the show, bringing
up the details of it, then clicking the link to record, cancel series, or
record series. Then setting your record options, then confirmming.
If you want to sign up for My Services and do this, then go simply to:
http://www.timewarnercable.com
Once here, click on the link that says My Services. Then, on this page, I
think there is a register link, or something of the sort. Again, it's been
a while since I set it up on my mom and I's account, but I do remember, once
she read me the account number and pin, I stored that securely in a txt file
on my system, and never since have really had to worry about it. I'm
warning you that if you have an IPad, don't try the TWC TV app. It's not
very accessible. You'd be much better off with this method I just describe,
and BTW, yes the web site works perfectly! in Safari on I O S. I do it that
way all the time!
Anyway, as I said, this really is getting off topic, so I'll end this thread
here. If anyone wants more information, I encourage them to either call
Time Warner and ask about their beta of Remote DVR Manager through My
Services, or if you want more a blind perspective bit of help, then write me
off list at:
[email protected]
I'd be more than happy to help where I can. I've been using this service
for quite a while now, just over 2 years to be specific, so believe me, I
know both it, and the time warner dvr remote like the back of my hand,
provided you have one of the Scientific Atlantic boxes, which I think is
mainly now what they're using.
Chris.
