It definitely is the enter key you use in iTunes to play a new file from the file list but the problem is that sporadically it does not work. This is what causes the confusion for people like you and me. I suspect that in both our cases the first time we tried the use of the enter key to play a track from the file list it did not produce any results so we assumed that this key did not work in general.
I have discovered 2 things. 1. Sometimes, for some unknown reason it takes several seconds for iTunes to start playing the track after the enter key is pressed. So hang about before assuming it has not worked. 2. As I mentioned before restarting iTunes appears to clear the problem. Once restarting the program and navigating back to the identical track I find iTunes will now allow the change of track to occur and the new track to start playing. This is annoying but is at least a workaround. Incidentally I have experienced exactly the same issue on iTunes on the Mac and the PC. On both the Mac and PC I therefore tend to use VLC more than iTunes as I find it more reliable stable and intuitive to use. To be fair I am putting effort into using learning and using iTunes as I want to be assured that I am not judging the product unfairly. I remain unimpressed with it so far though. I can make it function but everything seems hard work to achieve what is simpler on other platforms/players. Hi David I have been closely following this thread-for I am having the same problems as yourself. Do you know if this problem is only associated with using keyboard commands or are you aware if sighted users of ITunes experience the same difficulties? Kind regards Henry -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Griffith Sent: 25 December 2013 14:56 To: 'OS X & iOS Accessibility' Subject: RE: Grappling with iTunes again. Thanks . I had worked this out fairly easily but that only relates to the console. Say I am playing a track from a particular album but then I want to play a track by a completely different artist and different album? Previous or next tracks or fast forward etc. are not appropriate here. The problem then becomes dragging the console into accord with the other files I select to try and play from the track in the files list. Hitting space now will only play the track I no longer want to listen to and will not play the new track I have selected from the file list. Command-right arrow on the Mac goes to the next track and command-left arrow goes back to previous track. Spacebar pauses and resumes play. Command-option-jright and left arrows acts as a fast forward and rewind. Take Care John D.
