I think it’s the old adage here, you gets what you pays for, you takes your choice.
Personally speaking, if I want to use DAISY on the Mac, I use ReadHear. it was updated quite recently with a lot of the quirky bugs ironed out. For instance you can now return to your library without having to go through the Window menu. The price is a little steep, I totally agree there.
