If your ambition is to have a drive with full read and write options for
both Mac and Windows I would suggest that you use MSDos Fat 32.
Windows will not be able to write to the Mac OS journal formatted drives
whilst although the Mac will be able to read it will not be able to write to
Windows NTFS drives without third party software support.

I have an external MSDos FAT 32 drive precisely for the job of using on
both systems.

Subject: Formating a external hard drive

Hello Everyone,
I know i asked this question before , but i can't find it in my archives nor
is the mac-access archives easy to navigate.

Ive just purchased a external hd with NTFS software for the mac.
The manufacture says it will work on mac and windows.
My Question is this , should erase the drive to work on the mac and windows
using os extended journal ?
