David, I  made a  booboo, ok, have you ever made a mistake when writing email? 
I 
wrote from my iPhone and somehow the message didn't go where I thought it was 
going.
I  still stand by what I said, that XFAT is a  good solution, for using an 
external hd on both Mac and Windows.
Thanks for pointing out that my message was messed up, but did you have to be 
so 
snarky about it?
I  seldom write on this list, it is all I can do to keep up with what everyone 
else writes, and your comments only serve to discourage me and possibly others, 
from contributing.

I think you probably need to stop top quoting in your email replies as I do
not think many will hunt through all the thread to find out what you want to
say. You will see the problem in the copy message below. It took me about 10
minutes to find out what you were trying to suggest which was buried at the
end of the email amongst automated list generated messages. .
The simplest method is to simply delete all the replied thread and then type
your response - people will be able to read what you have to say more easily
then.
