Only thing is that I still don't find it very helpful for reading iBooks.

At this point in time, I see absolutely no reason why the move to
Mavericks shouldn’t be across the board, to be honest. Keep in mind that
Apple has released 4 major updates since the initial release of Mavericks
and most of the little quirks have been ironed out. Also, when Apple
releases Yosemite later this year, it will make the next upgrade smoother
as well.
Mavericks is fine, and I personally would recommend it to any Mac client.
