Also be mindful of the price of Mavericks in comparison to Windows 8.1 or 8. The Windows 7 to 8 or 7 to 8.1 upgrade was a paid upgrade and it was quite costly at that. The 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade is free, but so is Mavericks regardless of your operating system.
