Depends, imo. I've had four packages arrive this week through the US
postal service and one from Italy (purchases on eBay.) None were from
official type businesses. All but the one today came through customs
without any inspections or added charges. The one today came from
Colorado, the seller tacked the most on for shipping (a hefty $30
Canadian) probably because he didn't get as much as he may have been
expecting, and I had the 'pleasure' of picking up the first package
in my life that had been thoroughly opened and inspected by Customs.
I was charged another $19 for that privilege. Even the folks at the
post office couldn't believe how thoroughly the package had been
inspected. _However_ every single time a package has been shipped
from the US through a courier service, I've ended up paying excessive
brokerage fees and added taxes. Until my luck turns worse with Canada
Post and USPS, I'll stick with them.
