PCI slot is a place on your motherboard where you can plug in a PCI
card to increase your computers capabilities. PCI slots can be used
for a fancier video card, an ethernet card and of course a USB card.

Because of your limited number of PCI slots and your stated intention
of keeping that computer, you might also consider a card that would
give you both USB & firewire
<http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/firewire/Firewire_combo_cards.html> for a
little more info.

If you know how to open your computer to get to the motherboard, like
when you added RAM, adding a USB card is a piece of cake.

Good luck and HTH

Regards James
