I own a SCSI Yamaha CRW2100SXZ 16x10x40 CD burner. It will not recognise ANY disks at all. Not CD-Rs, or audio CDs or Data CDs. Whatever disk I put in the drive, fails to show up on the desktop. The green light will flash momentarily before switching to the stagnant orange light meaning the drive thinks it is empty.
I was trying to get it to work on my Apple Power Macintosh 8600/300, running OS 9.1 with Toast Titanium 5.1.3. I do not know what firmware version my Yamaha drive is at. I have attempted to turn off all sorts of extensions and removed any software that I thought might conflict with Toast but with no luck (iTunes, FWB CD-Toolkit, soundjam). I have tried to find fault with my scsi chain but with no success. Every other peripheral on my scsi chain works fine and SCSI probe (a scsi utility) "sees" the Yamaha drive just fine. Finally, I took the Yamaha drive and plugged it into my daughter's G3 All-in-one 233 mhz machine with no other SCSI peripherals attached to it and with Toast Titanium 5 installed and got the same result. The Yamaha drive fails to recognise ANY disks inserted into it. It's green light flashes and then turns orange and stops flashing. I no longer know what to do and am pulling my hair out in clumps. Would anyone have any further troubleshooting tips? Thanks, Jae Nunavut -- Mac Canada is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
