Hello all,

I'd like to warn fellow Canadians (and perhaps even our southern neighbours) about doing business with Netbatts, which seems to be a supplier of batteries for laptops... Their parent company is Laptops Again.

My experience: These people took my order, my VISA number and my trust in doing business across the border.
More than a month has passed and they have not filled the order, and have stopped answering my email and phone calls. At first they seemed surprised that my order hadn't arrived; then they said it had been lost at the border. Their last reply predicted it would arrive within days. I guess I should have known they were stringing me along (and screwing me) because they never did give me a UPS tracking number for the supposed shipment, saying that the number they had from UPS showed up as invalid.

The people at VISA say they wait 60 days before pursuing a claim against the company, so I have to go ahead and pay the bill and then wait for a refund. ($287. CDN) They are my only hope.
By the way, VISA has raised its charge for handling out-of-country transactions to 2.5% as of July 1st.

The lesson learned: deal with small companies at your peril. I have had successful transactions with others, including The PowerBook Guy, MC Price Breakers (CA) and Data Memory Systems (NH)

For all I know Netbatts and Laptops Again exist only to defraud people. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Stan
