One last point of clarification here: What is covered in FedEx air is
the brokerage fees (similar to the $5 fee charged by Canada Post, but of
course, much higher from UPS or FedEx), not taxes and duties (where
applicable, which is rare these days, I think).

You will still have to pay GST/HST (not PST, though) and any other costs
assessed by Canada Customs, no matter what the carrier. It's just the
amount of the extra service fees that varies ($5 for post, included in
FedEx air and most other air courier services, $20-$50+ for
UPS/FedEx/Purolator ground service).
