Brian: Here are my rules-of-thumb for shipping from the US:
-There is almost unilaterally NO duty on any electronics, unless it's made in some bizarre restricted location and imported to the states before it comes to you. Interesting that, according to CCRA, it's the originating country, not the exporting one, that's most significant in determining duty, apparently, since NAFTA eliminated almost all Can-US duties. USPS Shipping -- Cheap, efficient, no brokerage fees. However, many companies won't ship this way since it's less convenient than a courier, and Canada Post may make you pay sales tax on it. Federal Express -- More reasonable brokerage fees, not horrendous pricing, faster. It's still a courier, though -- couriers across the border are *never* cheap. DHL Worldwide -- Expensive, fast. 'nuff said. UPS -- Never, ever, ever use them. Astronomical brokerage fees. Hope you find that useful. Others mileage may vary, but the above has been my experience. However, being 10 minutes from the U.S. Border, I just have everything shipped to my dropoff in the states. :) Lincoln on 10/23/04 12:43 PM, Brian Mahoney at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Thanks Simon. > Do you remember if you had to pay duty?
