Have had two, nary a problem. Amongst co-workers and friends I have used about 7. No problems at all in any of them. I know that there were video problems in early ones.

Hi Mac.ca gang,
I would like to have a refresh concerning the eMac.
I seem to remember that it was afflicted with some problems.
Was it the screen?
What are the models to stay away from?

pre 1gig

Or are all the eMac affected?
Generally would you recommand buying an eMac?

yes

That will be for an old woman upgrading from an LC 575 with a small budget that has asked me to find her a new Mac.
By the way can the eMac start from a hard drive with only OS 9 on it?

Not the new ones, or if they can the USB ports won't work. I believe 1 gig can but it isn't officially supported to.
