Part of that could be physically being closer to the Asian market. When I
was looking for a DivX compatible standalone, it seemed that Canada was one
of the last countries to have them domestically. Even then, there was only
one model available for purchase in Canada and the price reflected that.
Now there are many models, most averaging a quarter of what I paid 18
months ago.
