Thanks, anything will help at this point. I've pretty much narrowed it down
to whatever electronics are in the circuit board in the enclosure.
Everything else has tested okay, firmware was updated and I was even up
till dawn installing Tiger on a separate partition on the off-chance the
latest OS might be able to let the burner do its thing via Firewire. But no
such luck (and I lost an entire partition of files.... back up back up back
up....)

On the off-chance I can't get this thing working via Firewire (the USB 1.1
burn has become a 50/50 proposition) does anyone know where I can either
buy the circuit board to install it myself (3 small screws) or buy the
external enclosure to put the burner into? I've really hit a dead end on
that -- all the usual places list enclosures for hard drives but none for
CD/DVD. And while OWC offers the exact same Pioneer DVR-110D for Mac, they
offer it built into a firewire enclosure and I can't find anything listed
for purchasing any such enclosure itself.
