Both games would max out the vram, is it possible your problem is related to vram. Ive had Nox running on the 100mhz card with only the 8mb onboard ram, very slow but workable with only hardfiles . Dont flame me to much for mentioning 95. ;) Hang on, doesn't diablo install both versions (pc and mac) from the one cd?
