If there are certain specifications for an internal EIDE CD-RW to work in a Mac, what are they? Since these drives are usually going in Wintel machines, I haven't seen one that includes Mac specs in the system requirements. And I think most or all of us know that just because there are no Mac-related specs on the packaging of a given item, it doesn't mean it won't work with a Mac nor does it mean that the manufacturer doesn't have appropriate drivers.

So what's the real story? Enquiring minds want to know!

Mac burning software doesn't support every writer ever made.
The manual or the manufactures website should provide the details to cross reference against the software capabilties. Toast in its many versions never supported everything, I think the same can be said about pc software to a point.

I know of toast and neromax, apple's free Disc-Burner software and a wonderful little program called cd-copy that work on older macs, are there many others? I think cd-copy is the only self contained program while the others use extensions.
