Hi all

Picked up an LCIII recently, 12MB RAM (shortly to be at least 16), 80MB hard
drive, running 7.1. Got hold of some old Mac stuff they were throwing out at
work, including floppies for 7.5. Installed it, but am having problems
sorting e-mail out. I've got Config PPP, MacTCP and all that and it will
dial up OK (using MacAce) but it won't connect to any pop servers or smtp
servers to check or send mail. Have tried it with LineOne and Tiscali
dial-up and addresses, but no joy so far. Anyone got any ideas? I'm using a
Motorola 28.8 modem.

Question 2: among the stuff salvaged from work was a Quantum 2 GB hard
drive. It looks exactly the same size as my current hard drive - would the
LCIII be able to handle it, or are the basic reasons why I can't fit it? I'm
not used to delving inside Macs, but am keen to do what I can to upgrade
cheaply where possible, hence the 16MB of RAM coming shortly.

Glad of your expertise ...

Russ
