HELP! > > MTIA > > Alan G Assuming that you have got the software set up correctly, the most obvious thing is the phone cable, if you have one intended for the US market then it will be wired wrong, also the same may happen if you are trying to use a phone cord from a different modem, many manufacturers use different pin-outs, the normal symptom of an incorrectly wired cable is that the modem passes all internal diagnostics, but you get no dial tone, I find the easiest way of testing for this is to keep a selection of modem cables in my junk box and just try as many different ones as needed till it works.
