You can get 233MHz iMacs on eBay for very little money � that�s probably a better option than paying similar money for a repair.
The eMac is very good for the price, but one minor caveat is that the current generation systems have a very noisy fan in them. Because the eMac was designed down to a price Apple penny-pinched to the degree that there is no temperature sensor in them which could be sued to control the fan speed � so it�s on all the time and has to be capable of keeping the system going even when it�s 40 deg C or more outside. Therefore it�s much bigger than needed most of the time and very noisy. Bad design flaw in my view, but doesn�t retract from the fact that in every other way these are good systems for the price (unless you compare with the bang for buck you get with PCs at this price point, which is another story, but on this list I think we can assume that people want to buy Macs!)
