I concur with what you say about Norton, though I would argue in defense of TechTool Pro (new version 4 just out) which also builds a new directory and does pretty much what DiscWarrior does and some more. It has been criticized in the past for the time the optimization takes but this is due, I am assured, to the safe caching of data to avoid loss of data if something goes wrong, which seems a fair trade off. It is certainly worth considering as an alternative to DiscWarrior, good though it is.
