Personally I would never recommend anyone going with BT for ADSL unless
theyre made of money. BT charge 29.99 (or 27.99 without any services such
as email or webspace etc) a month when there are plenty of other ISPs who
charge much less for the same service. PlusNets ADSL HomeSurf, for example,
is only 18.99 for a better overall package. And if you are happy with less
bandwidth (always on is for some people the key benefit of broadband, after
all), then there are now packages that start at only 14.99 (PlusNet) or
15.99 (Tiscali). And theres even a package that has a minimum monthly cost
of only 11.75/month from Metronet with an additional fee based on how much
data you transfer.

These are only some examples the key thing to realise is that the service
is generally EXACTLY THE SAME OR BETTER (when you're comparing 512k
services, that is), but for a lot less money.

A couple of places to check out for comparative costs are:

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/packagelist.asp

http://www.web-user.co.uk/broadband

Both of these places list Broadband packages from a wide range of ISPs
dont pay more than you have to!

Subject: Re: UK AOL Broadband OS9 anyone?

The regular BT ADSL service works just fine under OS 9.2.2 and 10.3
with the supplied USB modem and with a wireless router, because of the
obvious speed benefits it might be worth considering changing over if
AOL don't want your money (despite having to change e-mail addresses
which I know can be a pain)
