There was a gimp-print related problem of this type caused by 10.3 that was
meant to be fixed with 10.3.2 or 10.3.3 (cant remember exactly which) where
you could only print one document before having to reset the printer. So the
problem should theoretically go away if you have upgraded to 10.3.3.

If you go to the gimp print website you can track the description of this
down - I couldn't say exactly where it was, but I found it a while ago when
a client had this problem.

Hi Chris
If it has a parallel port you can get a USB to parallel adaptor. I got my
Epson Stylus Photo to work with Panther this way. But whether related to
this or not I had a lot of unplugging and re plugging when doing printing
with it that may have been related to this or just poor driver support.

I moved it downstairs and got a Canon i865 (really impressive and I am well
pleased with it) so I dont use the USB to parallel adaptor anymore - might
sell on for a bit less than new or swap with something (?) (It is new with
only a few weeks use and can enable all sorts of printers to connect to Mac
- apparently).

As far as the glitches I had - I believe I deleted an Epson driver in error
(when troubleshooting) and then used the Gimp driver which was flakier.
Then gave up and got the Canon because I actually wanted to get away from
the Epson. (Cleaning cycles noise slow blocked jets etc)
all the best
Brian
