I thought about doing something similar with older kit but did not pursue it. However, I did download the free YARC Xtreme server software for the Epson printers which only runs in OS9/Classic I believe.

Our Epson printers have ethernet cards (10Mb/s in the ESC3000 and 100Mb/s in the ESP7500) and these are plumbed into a switch which in turn goes back to the router and all computers on the network can print to either of these or the HP printer. We print in such low volume that the need for the server was always questionable but I would be interested to know if you or anyone else tries the YARC software which I gather is supposed to be very good. I cannot remember exactly how it worked but I think the cross-system method was to use the software on the client to print to file and then have a watch folder on the server. I could be wrong though.

How do I turn a 6500 PPC upgraded to G3/400 into a print server for my
Graphite G4/400 ?

The G3 is running OS 9.1 and the G4 is running 10.2.8.
