Has anyone on the list got a Telewest broadband connection with a cable modem connected to a router?

yup. I have a linksys wireless 54G router which is about 60 from amazon and has a 4port 100/10 ethernet hub as part of it.

I share a connection with win98 pc, dv/400 imac and my pb AL15" which is on the wireless link.

you set up one machine with the telewest modem and then add the router afterwards, the installer for the router takes the settings from your initial machine and stores them in the router. just plug and play after that as the router dhcp serves.
