Make sure that configure is correctly detecting the platform. That's often the problem. It'll default to something odd and most likely bomb out. There should be a platform specific file... I forget where these are kept int he source chain. It'll be something like "apple-macosx-ppc" or "darwin-bsd-ppc". You can also specify the platform from the command line most likely. If all else fails, I usually start bypassing things in the configure script ;-) Either that or I configure on another platform and then hack the makefiles. But then this is me using BeOS PPC and another compiler completely. Your mileage may vary... Anyway, when runing configure, if it doesn't report the platform it's building the makefile for correctly, this will be some of the problem. Also bare in mind that Apple's extensions to GCC often get in the way of things (or so I'm lead to believe, having never tried it personally.)
