Don't know about you lot but time sure does fly... I can still remember when I saw my first Apple...back in 1986 and I was still in school in a two road, no traffic light type of town in Northern Ontario where one had to drive 40 miles to do the week-end grocery shopping (no, I'm not joking)...anyway, in this remote location I walked into my second year computer science class where we had Commodore PET computers <http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=191> and were learning BASIC with monochrome screens and in walks a guy with a small portable computer in his hands...he showed the class the Mac and what a difference...graphic user interface, a mouse (a what?), paint program, what more could a geek teenager stuck in a -20 C, two foot snow deep winter ask for (besides a girlfriend :) )...
Been an absolute raving mad worshipper since, although it took me until '93 to finally have enough saved to get my first one (a Canadian spec Mac LC 475, with 8 MB RAM, 80 MB HD...what am I going to do with all that space? An Apple colour display graced the video side) with System 7 installed and word processors that worked...still have it in original boxes downstairs, take it out once in a while to see the good old days...paid an absolute fortune of 3,800 CDN for it (about 1700 GBP, could explain why it has been back and forth across the pond a few times and seen more countries than most people!) With Tiger hopefully coming in 3 -4 weeks time according to the latest rumours (apparently Golden Master stage as of yesterday) things have only improved (IMO) (well it did get pretty bad there for a while, but hey, you can't experience any highs if you don't know the low's)... Anyone else willing to share how you got using Macs and what did it for you on this memorable occasion? Great work Apple, Happy Birthday, may you see the great empire fall and enjoy the true position you deserve. (the North American in me wants to say Halleluiah here! Ignore me, I'm getting off the soap box now).
