Just for some balance:
My brother bought one several months ago with no such problems (the
logic-board on his 18 month old iBook was failing - but that's
another story).
My father-in-law's surgery has had several for a while now, with no
issues that I've heard about.
A friend of mine has one which has been fine. I think we'd have heard
a lot more about it if it was a common problem.
