Just for the Mini owners out there, it is Menu and select for reset
and menu and play for disk mode.
Glad you recovered the music
just discovered a way to view your music folder in your finder, but
so far i have only experimented with a fat formatted iPod..
If anyone is interested mail me direct and i will tell you what to do.

For what it's worth, you can start an iPod in Target Disk mode
(much like holding down Command-T when you reboot a Mac):
1) Reset the iPod (hold down Play & Menu)
2) WHILST it's rebooting, hold down ffwd & rewd
The iPod screen will show a little Disc spinning, and will not sync
with iTunes when you plug it in (it will just mount on the Desktop).

Music Files are stored in the folder iPodControl/Music (not usually
visible in Finder, but perfectly accessible with the Terminal).
