To be honest you would be better to spend the equivalent amount of money on a surround system and utilise the optical output on your G5 for the best TV and DVD audio quality. The M-Audio equipment is great (I use the Delta 1010) bear in mind since the card you spec. uses a slower speed than PCI-X it will slow all of the slots down to the lower bus speed should you intend to add a PCI-X card later. I also find DVD's with no dolby 2.0 mix annoying to watch on a stereo system since 5.1 into 2 speakers always means the dialogue is too quiet till you turn it right up and then the instant the music kicks in you are diving for the volume control again.

Its a shame that NICAM (Near Instantaneous Companded Audio Multiplex) didn't develop further for TV and DVD since by now it could carry 6 directional channels of audio through 2 speakers and would have saved some of the wiring in my lounge!

.........and any comments/opinions? I have been after a decent sound card for the dual G5 2Ghz? It's an PCI-X motherboard with 8 slot bank, so compatability isn't an issue. Basically want decent sound quality, many of the USB speakers are very poor quality and have taken back quite a few. Not a musican or anything, just want good sound quality when playing DVDs and watching TV.....and speakers would be something like the Edirol MA7A? The G5 is in my Den, not an opera house, so quality rather than quantity is the criterion! Just after other user's opinions before taking the plunge.

Thanks, Myles
