While I'm no world authority on mail lists, I did start one 9 years ago
and ran it on software on my own Mac for 5 years. First on freeware
(Macjordomo) and then on professional quality software (LetterRip).
Eventually, lack of a static IP and problems with authentication made
things too difficult and I switched over to Yahoo. What you're talking
about may be possible but _really_ sounds complicated. Managing mail
lists can be a tough job - personalities can conflict, etc., etc. "A
couple hundred lists" --- arghhhh!

I think someone suggested a bulletin board. I used <http://
www.bulletinboards.com> for several years.
