Hello all,

at first I'd like to introduce myself to all of you not already knowing me.

I'm a 40 years old German, active in different places inside the OOo community. My main activity is the OpenOffice.org Art project in the moment.

After reading the German translation of Eric B's interview with MacGeneration.fr I got notice of your work on a new iconset for OOo.

As I don't know how far this efforts have been gone, I'd like to point you to the work of Stella Schulze, the graphic designer at Sun, Hamburg who designed most of the UI in OOo2.

She wanted to share her work with the community and started to upload her work to the UI project:

Especially the Galaxy iconset might be interesting for you:

On the other hand there has just been a graphics teacher introducing herself on [email protected], the mailing list of the Art project.

She noticed the "un-Mac-ish" look of OOo and would like to help out (perhaps with the help of her students).

So if you still need help in this topic, don't hesitate to reply here (or even better: join [EMAIL PROTECTED]).

What I and others want to achieve is a more or less equal look of OOo on all the different platforms. This is one of the central point if we want to improve our visual identity in public.

So we'll have to define an iconset (not only for the UI, but as application and document icons too), that can be used with minor modifications on Mac OS X, different Linux distributions and Windows (at least XP and Vista). And on all these platforms the icons should look as if they had been specifically designed for that platform.

Let's work together on that important task!

Best regards

Bernhard
