Local mysql server installation or remote ?
Local installations work practically flawlessly. Have done for a while now.
Unfortunately, installing mysql servers on every workstation is not generally
an enterprise solution, and often not even feasible because of consistency
constraints.

Therein lays the root of the matter.

If your mysql connection is remote, then I'm interested in what you have done
to get it working, because it just won't with everything I've tried so far on
the Intel Tiger box I've used. In fact, its so bad I've called my ODB
doc "jdbc_mysql_OOo_killer". Sure, I can get a connection, sure, I can see
the table list, but I sure as **** (insert 4 letter expletive of choice)
can't do anything with it, except kill OOo ;-)
