shaun

hey and thanks for the fast response. i am at wits end with this new mac and it has osx in it but i have not heard of what you are talking about. i will try what you said and i will most definitely get back to you on this. so far i am very frustrated with this and all i want to do is use what i have if i can. it won't take my mp3 player or my jump drive either. now i will find out if it will take my camera and printer. if not i don't know i will probably return this and get a better pc.

well here it goes keep your fingers crossed. i will save this mail for future reference thanks again for the fast reply.

sincerly

sorry about the errors in spelling but i have not mastered where to find a spelling check on this mac either. nor how to make the windows full size to see everything.

i am new to mac just bought this past weekend very unhappy and frustrated that there is nothing on this mac that i am used to from pc use. it is a dead paper weight to me as i cannot use. i am trying to find programs like excel and word perfect to use to get all my projects i had saved to disc from old computer to work on this if not possible then i might as well take this back to store and buy another pc

It's great to see that you have bought a Mac.

OpenOffice.org on the Mac will open and save most Excel and Word documents flawlessly. More complex document my have some formatting problems.

You will need to use your "Install discs" that came with it to do an "optional install" of "X11".

Please see
<http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/faq/installing/>
for more information on installing OpenOffice.org.

See
<http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/x11.html>
for information on downloading OpenOffice.org for the Mac. You will probably have to choose "Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger)" and then "Intel", if you have bought the Mac in the past year.

if you can help thanks as mac and apple are another waste of my time

If you have any problems with the above instructions, please come back to us, and we will try to help you further.
