Thank you for your reply Eric! I saw that you modified the user directory but I also meant the application file name. This was actually the reason why I didn't drag the file into the application folder as it would overwrite the X11 2.3 application file. So maybe you can rename the .app file as well to e.g. OpenOffice.org 2.3 aqua.app

Best regards
Helge

Some days ago I wrote that I have a low performance of the aqua version on my powerbook 1,25 GHz, 1 GB RAM.

Exactly the same machine than mine ! I bought another laptop since, but it works fine.

I forgot to say that I started OO directly from the .dmg file. Now that I dragged the application into a folder on the disk the performance seems to have improved significiantly.

Ok, now I understand. Thanks for pointing us this important point (I'm pretty sure the issue will occur)

Maybe you should add a hint to the readme files.

Yes, and/or in the FAQ

The reason why I didn't drag the application into the applications folder was that I already had the X11 dev build of 2.3 there and didn't want to overwrite it.

FYI, I have modified the bootstrap for user install dir. aqua version does use :

~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org-aqua

To avoid conflicts, and data loss.
