Having these icons come with all platforms would be nice, however 3.0 is
very far in the future, and it is common for cross-platform programs to
have mac-style icons for the Mac version only. So, I think that it would
be fine to include it for the Mac version once the final stable aqua
build of OOo 2.3 is ready.

I second both points. However we should bring this up with the user
experience list. If we get new icons (and I agree perfectly that this
new icon is really nice), then we want them on all platforms at the
same time (please remember that OpenOffice.org is multi-platform). New
icons for 3.0 are IMHO a very good idea, especially when they look as
nice as that one.
