I'm kind of hosed now. I downloaded X11 1.1.3 from the apple/ support/downloads site you mentioned and got
Maybe I am wrong with my suspicion - I did not read the whole thread but:
Where did you get the X11 1.0? Downloading the X11 1.0 from the Apple website could be the mistake.On OS-X 10.4.x you should install the X11 1.0 ONLY from the Tiger DVD install disk.
The X11 on the Apple website is for OS-X 10.3.x only.Nevertheless, the URL which points to the update to X11 1.1.3 is the right one for Tiger (10.4.x).
The message you got "This system.... no update.." points also to this direction.
So:please take your install disks and try to re-install the X11 and then try to update either via software-update (behind the apple-menu) or the URL to 1.1.3.
