In the office where I work the office admin (who uses office software
every day, unlike me who hardly touches it these days) has ooo3 aqua
stable release installed on a current Intel iMac, with 1GB of RAM and
has had various stability problems. The problems include slowness, the
whole app completely freezing after being running for some time, and
weirdness with margins when printing which are mac specific [I did
file a bug for this problem since it was easily reproducible]. Just
before Christmas I added an extra 1GB of RAM, so we'll see if this
helps. Unfortunately I don't have the time to try and diagnose where
the problem is coming from, nor can I sit there installing new dev
versions very two weeks (unless it is a simple update process through
the sparkle framework or similar).

The co-founder of the company I work for has found that he too has had
problems on on machine constantly, but not as many on another machine.
He is not happy with the amount of support time required for
OpenOffice. So much so he is even contemplating just spending some
money on MS Office for the Mac for that particular machine.

I am wondering if there is an issue with using ooo with a small amount
of RAM, or whether the preferences are being corrupted really easily,
and then not being able to fix themselves. Asking users to delete
their preferences doesn't make them happy!
