Implicit in (2) and (3) is: * recognise that Finder (which does much more than simply find) is essentially preserving the edits that you make to files and/or their metadata/extended attributes; and that battling against preservation may be a battle we can't win :-) There's actually a fifth thought but I'll spin that into a separate thread...
